My Background
Alyona Cerfontyne, MCouns, GradDipScMed, DipEd
When I learnt about my own misattributed paternity, I felt like a found a missing piece of a very complicated puzzle. And without that piece, the puzzle would have never been completed.
As I purchased a DNA test back in 2016, I was a successful marketing executive, delivering ambitious projects nationally and internationally. But my life was missing a sense of purpose. So that year I made a decision to step on the path of becoming a therapist and applied for a Master of Counselling course at Monash University, Australia.

A few years later, I was learning to be a therapist and how to live without knowing who my actual biological father was at the same time. The discovery of my misattributed paternity was synonymous with becoming a therapist. Deeply interested in close intimate relationships, I specialized in couples therapy, further expanding into sex therapy and trauma work.

I feel that all the tools in my therapeutic toolbox I have been gathering so far - my own lived experience, understanding of intricate interpersonal dynamics and issues of sexuality, plus research experience on the subject of paternal discrepancies - are a perfect fit for helping those affected by misattributed paternity. I know how profound these experiences can be - I am here to help you navigate them.
